SUPERBABE 54: GRACE LEE WHITNEY

Image: CBS/PARAMOUNT.

Originally planned as the main female star of the classic STAR TREK series, film and TV actress Grace Lee Whitney's addition to the series was, in my opinion, a good one: a sexy gal, great figure with some acting chops. There was lots of potential in her scenes as Yeoman Rand opposite William Shatner's heroic Captain Kirk shown in early episodes that could have been developed further beyond her being Kirk's "Girl Friday". Sadly, behind the scenes problems saw the character removed and the actresses sudden departure, with the equally lovely Lt. Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) gaining more prominence and icon status in her place...

The actress as seen in a 1963 production.

Showing her splendid figure in the MGM movie Irma le Douce.

Whitney's superb mature frontage was well displayed in the first Star Trek movie in 1980.

Miss Lee Whitney would, thankfully, continue to be a presence in STAR TREK, appearing in several films and making an anniversary appearance in STAR TREK: VOYAGER, alongside George Takei's Captain Sulu.
